Workshop on Developing Blended Learning Courses

    MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized a three-day workshop in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Canada for developing blended-learning courses using the Moodle platform. Ten participants from MIER College of Education and ten participants from Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) participated in the workshop.

The aim of the workshop was to provide hands-on training for implementing
Blended-Learning courses in the upcoming semester and to evaluate the status of ongoing development of these courses. The resource person was Dr. Indira Koneru, Associate Dean and Head, eLearning Department at IBS India. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Mool Raj, HoD PG Department of the college.
At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director MIER College of Education, welcomed the resource person and emphasized that this workshop would help
participants in clarifying their doubts and finalizing their blended courses on Moodle for the final launch. During the course of the workshop, Dr. Indira, not only evaluated the development of 20
blended courses created by the faculty of both MIER College of Education and MIET but also facilitated in implementing them for the upcoming semester. Dr. Indira focused on four quadrant
approach proposed by the University Grants Commission namely e-Tutorial, e-Content, Assessment and Discussion forums. She helped the participants align course goals and learning
outcomes followed by creating formative and summative assessment module-wise. Dr Indira facilitated the participants in creating different forums, synchronous and nonsynchronous
sessions, student engagement activities, sharing OERs and self prepared material, creating support systems and defining student expectations. On the last day of the workshop, participants
self-evaluated their courses and provided feedback which was followed by presentation and peer- evaluation of the blended courses. The management appreciated the efforts and commitment of the resource person and the participants in the development of the blended-learning courses which is going to be a major step in providing access to innovative topics in a truly online learning environment for the students at the college.
