Guest Lecture on Various Errors in Educational Research

SPEAKER Prof. Kaushal Kishore

A guest lecture on the theme “Various Errors in Educational Research” was organised by the centre. The resource person was Prof. Kaushal Kishore, Dean and Head School of Education, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education extended a warm welcome to the resource person and introduced him as an expert in the field of Educational Research, Teacher Education and Emerging Educational Trends. In his lecture, Dr.

Kishore comprehensively explained four different types of errors namely standard error of measurement, standard error of difference, Type 1 error in hypothesis testing, and Type II error in hypothesis testing. He opened his deliberation explaining the Central Limit Theorem as a statistical theory to relate with the topic and ease of understanding by the students. Prof. Kishore provided ample examples explaining the various errors in research and stressed on the importance of understanding their nature. At the end, he discussed framing of the hypothesis whether it is directional or non-directional and added it depends on the analysis of the review of the literature. This was followed by an interactive session where the faculty members and students clarified their doubts and queries.
