The Research and Development Cell of MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized a guest lecture for the faculty of both P.G. and U.G. departments on the theme “Publishing in High Impact Journals”. The resource person was Prof. Santosh Panda, Director, STRIDE, IGNOU Delhi.
He comprehensively addressed the key components that a researcher must take into consideration while writing a research proposal/paper like what, why, how of the research and said how to clearly state the problem, provide its importance, situate it in the theoretical or conceptual framework, highlight the research done in the area and provide the research paradigm.
Prof. Panda discussed proprietary journals and open-access publishing and further explained the types of open-access journals, OA (hybrid) which is paid, and OA which is free for publications with some limitations. He also emphasized the process of publication in such journals in a very systematic manner and also highlighted some of the common mistakes made by researchers while publishing their papers. This was followed by an active interaction session where the faculty members clarified their doubts and queries.
