Republic Day Celebration

Co-Curricular Committee of the College of Education celebrated Republic Day. A ‘Folk Dance Competition’ on theme “The Incredible India” was organized on this occasion. There were solo and paired performances.The students of School of Education & School of Social Sciences and Humanities participated in the event with great enthusiasm and zeal.
Ridham Sharma & Samridhi Rajput B.Ed Semester-III bagged the first prize, Mahi BA Hons. Pschology Semester III got the second prize & Snober and Megha Thakur B.Ed Semester III were third altogether.
. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director MIER, Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, Dr. Moolraj Sharma COE, Dr. Nishta Rana, HOD SoE, Dr. monika Bajaj, HOD SSSH, Dr. Bharti Tandon, Dy. HoD, SoE along with faculty members and the students of both the schools attended the event. The judges of the event were Mr. Vivek Mohan and Ms. Mohini Music and Dance teachers from Model Academy School, B. C. Road. Arti B.Ed Spl Sem.I formally welcomed the gathering. The programme was ably conducted by Monika and Sudhanshu both from B.Ed Spl Sem.I. Akarshika Bali from BA Hons. Psychology Sem. III presented a formal vote of thanks. The whole program was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Reeta Dwivedi, Convener Co-Curricular committee and Dr. Priya Choudhary, member of the committee.

Financial Literacy and Investor Awareness Program

Financial Literacy and Investor Awareness Program

An online Financial Literacy and Investor Awareness Programme was organized by Co-Curricular Committee, MIER College. Mr. Atul Sathe, Krishna Foundation, Mumbai, a Public Charitable trust was the resource person. Heads of SoE and SoSSH, faculty members and students attended the program. Deliberating on the topic, the resource person emphasized on saving, planning, and budgeting and smart use of digital financial services. He went on to explain that providing students with financial literacy instruction in a classroom context helps them build a strong foundation for financial security. Further, it introduces students to fundamental concepts in finance, such as budgeting, saving, and investing. Early acquisition of this knowledge helps students in developing wise financial habits that could prove beneficial in the long term.
He also highlighted the three essential elements of financial literacy, such as keeping an updated budget—which refers to a spending plan—designated savings and preventing identity theft.

MIER Fiesta 2023

MIER Fiesta 2023

The College organised its first-ever annual festival, “MIER Fiesta 2023”, at its B.C Road campus. The event showcased the incredible talent of students and provided an evening of entertainment, games and fun that will be remembered for years to come. The festival kicked off with an energetic and visually stunning dance extravaganza. Various dance groups and solo performances dazzled the audience with their precision, creativity, and passion. From contemporary to traditional, the performances were a witness to the diversity and skill of the talented students. The students showcased their versatility, offering a delightful mix of genres that catered to the diverse tastes of the audience. The students also performed beatboxing, showcasing their incredible vocal percussion skills.
Mr. Ricky and his band entertained the crowd with a musical concert, which electrified the environment with excitement and left the audience spellbound with his melodious voice. The campus grounds became a throbbing dance floor for the DJ evening as the festival went on. Attendees danced to the beats of heart-thumping music, creating an energised atmosphere that brought together students, faculty, and guests in a celebration of music and rhythm. Mouth-watering food items and game stalls were also organised for the students and teachers. Encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit, many students also set up food stalls to promote local food items.

Intercollegiate Women

Intercollegiate Women's Badminton Championship

The College clinched the coveted overall trophy at the Intercollegiate Women's Badminton Championship organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, University of Jammu. The event witnessed fierce competition, with more than 41 teams from various universities and colleges participating, and MIER College emerged triumphant.
Guided by Mr. C.R. Jangra, Sports Incharge, MIER College of Education, and coached by Mr. Imran Ahmed from Model Academy, the stellar performance of talented students brought home the championship. The exceptional players who showcased their prowess on the badminton court include Ms. Naman Mansotra (BA Honours Psychology Semester V), Ms. Khushi Jhanavi (BA
Honours Political Science Semester III), and Maanya Bakshi (BA Honours Psychology Semester I).
Prof. Adit Gupta, the Director and Principal of MIER College, lauded the students for their outstanding achievements and encouraged them to continue their active participation in state and national-level competitions in the future. The dedicated efforts of Mr. C.R. Jangra, Incharge Sports Unit, were also acknowledged and appreciated by Prof. Gupta. This victory not only adds another feather to MIER College's cap but also underscores the commitment to excellence and sportsmanship fostered within
the institution.

Grand Fresher's Party

To extend a warm welcome to the new students of B.Ed., B.Ed. Special Education, and MA Political Science, the Co-curricular Committee at MIER College of Education organized a vibrant fresher's party within the college premises. The festivities began with Ms. Shriya Shan, a student of B.Ed. Semester III, extending a warm welcome to the guests and the incoming students. The event showcased a plethora of entertaining performances, including games like Burst the Balloons and Musical Chairs, captivating solo songs, and dance performances by both seniors and juniors. The highlight of the evening was the mesmerizing group dance performances by students of Semester III, filling the atmosphere with joy and excitement. Seniors shared their valuable experiences at the college, while juniors expressed their sentiments about transitioning from school to college. Ms. Monika from B.Ed. Semester I and Mr. Sudhanshu from B.Ed. Special Semester I were declared as Ms. And Mr. Fresher. Alisha Vaid and Palak Grover, students of B.Ed. Semester III, expertly conducted the program, ensuring a seamless flow of events. Ms. Shivani Chib from B.Ed. Special Education Semester III delivered a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers. The festivities concluded with refreshments and casual interactions, providing an opportunity for students to bond.

Fresher Party

To welcome the new students of B.A. Honours in Psychology, Political Science and English, The Co-Curricular Committe of the College organized a big bash fresher's party in its premises. Everyone showered their blessings and greeted the new students with love and affection. The event started with welcoming the guests and new students by Ms. Arzoo Sharma, a student of B.A. Honours English. Dr. Adit Gupta appreciated the efforts of the senior students in organizing the program. He welcomed the new students and said there is no substitute for hardwork.
The event saw many dazzling performances by both seniors and juniors alike. The event commenced with Burst the Balloons game, followed by captivating solo songs and dance performances. There were mesmerizing group dance performances by the students of semester III, which filled the air with joy and fun. In addition, seniors shared their experiences in the college. The event ended with refreshments and tete-a-tete.

Inter-College Symposium

Inter-College Symposium

The Co-curricular Committee of the College organized an inter-college symposium on the theme “The Future of Education: Technology, Equity and Inclusion”. The symposium was organised in collaboration with MOU and other colleges through hybrid mode. Twelve colleges and 24 participants from within and outside Jammu and Kashmir participated in the symposium. The participants comprehensively elaborated their views on technology's transformative role, equity in access to education, inclusion and diversity in learning, global collaboration, and learning. Based on the results declared by the jury, the first and second prizes went to Ms. Anmoldeep Kour and Ms. Sugandha Gupta from Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu, the third prize was jointly bagged by Ms Aditi Mahajan, from MIER College and Ms Anisha Kour, from GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Ms Nandika, from MIER College, and Ms Shaheen Bedi, from GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana won the consolation prizes. Certificates of merit were given to the participants.

Yoga Activity

Yoga Activity

The Sports Unit of college arranged a yoga session to promote students’ holistic development, physical and mental well-being, and stress management. The resource person was Ms. Madhu Bala, a yoga instructor at Model Academy School. Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the staff members encouraged the participants for the activity. More than 60 students from the SSSH participated in the activity where they practiced 12 significant asanas and understood their relevance in attaining holistic well-being. The program emphasized the benefits of mindfulness and methods for reducing stress through yoga and meditation. Students were guided to develop a deeper connection with their inner selves, enabling them to better cope with the challenges of life.

Annual Prize Distribution Function

The Co-curricular Committee of the School of Education at MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized the Annual Prize Distribution Function at its campus today to honour the student achievers in various categories. Prof. Rahul Gupta, Registrar, University of Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion and Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, was the Guest of Honour.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal, who emphasized the significance of recognizing and encouraging exceptional achievements of
students with a wide array of awards ranging from academic distinctions, co-curricular achievements and excellence in research. He specially welcomed Prof. Rahul as an alumnus of Model Academy- the prestigious school of MIER.

The ceremony was marked by an atmosphere of pride and accomplishment, highlighting the commitment of the college to nurturing holistic development and fostering a culture of excellence among its students. The programme began with the College Tarana by the Rag group of the college. The following categories of wards were given to the students from the College of
Education: Academic Achievement Award, Most Regular Student Award, Budding Researcher Award, Gender Champions Award, Best NSS Volunteer Award, Best Community Campaigner
Award, Cocurricular Excellence Award, Eco-warrior Award, etc. The faculty members who developed Blended Learning Courses under the Commonwealth of Learning project were also facilitated by the EdTech Award.

Visit to Balidaan Stambh to commemorate 77 th Independence Day

Visit to Balidaan Stambh to commemorate 77 th Independence Day

To mark the momentous occasion of the 77th Independence Day, the College organized a visit to Balidaan Stambh, Jammu. Around 31 students from the School of Education and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities enthusiastically participated with flags in their hands and tricolour badges pinned on their shoulders. Balidaan Stambh is a war memorial constructed by the Army to pay respect to the Army officers and Jawans who sacrificed their lives to protect the country during the 1947, 1965, 1971 and Kargil wars. During the visit, the students got the opportunity to witness the final parade rehearsal for Independence Day, paid homage to martyrs, read about war heroes and interacted with army officers who motivated the students to join the Indian army. The students’ roared slogans filled with the spirit of patriotism and love for our country.

To celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Jammu, the Co-Curricular Committee organized a photograph competition on the theme "Jammu: The Land of Cultural Heritage." The judges of the event were Dr. Bharti Tandon, Associate Professor and Mrs. Jyoti Sharma, Assistant Professor, MIER College of Education. More than eight students participated in the event. The students displayed their pictures through power point presentations focusing on traditional cuisines and dresses, temples, jewelry, and landmarks of the Jammu province.
Ms. Anjali Jain of B.Ed. semester II clinched the first position, Ms. Khushi Sharma of B.Ed. semester IV got the second position, and Ms. Shruti Bhasin of B.Ed. semester II secured the third position. All the winners and participants were honored with certificate of merit.

Participation in G-20 Cultural Event

Representatives from the world's most influential countries gathered at the G-20 Cultural Event in Srinagar to honour the rich cultural traditions and artistic prowess of each participating nation.
Among the distinguished participants in the cultural showcase, four students from the College, namely Kriti Singh Thakur and Arti Thakur of B.Ed Sem IV, Sheetal Thapa of M.Ed Sem IV and Shavi Sharma of B.A. (Honours) Political Science, performed Gojri and Bhaderwahi folks dance forms organized by Natrang, Jammu. These students from the College made an exceptional contribution to the cultural event of the G-20, showcasing different dance forms from Jammu and Kashmir.

A picnic was organized for B.Ed. IV semester students to the scenic Blue Wave Water Park, Barhi Brahamana, Jammu on 6th May,2023. Blue wave park had amazing features of water play areas including six swimming pools of different depths for floating, swimming, water games ,bucket and water showers etc. It was a big change from the routine academic curriculum for the students.

Cultural Practices for Sustainable Environment'

The Co-curricular Committee and Environment Unit of the College o in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations organized a symposium and cultural event on the theme 'Cultural Practices for Sustainable Environment'. Mrs. Parul Khajuria (KAS), Cultural Officer, Department of Information, and Public Relations was the Chief Guest of the event. Around 10 students participated in the symposium. Based on the results given by the jury, Ms. Aditi Mahajan and Ms. Nandika Srivastava of BA Honours Psychology, Semester I clinched the first position and second position respectively whereas Ms. Naman Mansotra, BA Honours Psychology, Semester III secured the third position. All the participants were awarded with the certificates of merit and trophies. In addition to the symposium a lively cultural programme was presented by artists of cultural unit Jammu and students of the college.

Parakram Diwas and Republic Day

Students from P.G. and U.G. departments enthusiastically participated in the Parakram Diwas and Republic Day celebrations by participating online in various competitions on the MyGovt.Portal. The students prepared colourful portraits of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, wrote essays on his contribution to the freedom struggle, composed poems to pay tribute to Netaji, created patriotic reels, clicked republic day memory photography, and participated in a quiz on women empowerment and participation in the Indian Armed Forces. The students received participation certificates. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College of Education, appreciated the efforts of the committee and urged the students to participate in these activities in the future too.

Inter-College Symposium

The College in collaboration with different colleges under MOU organized an inter-college symposium on the theme Constitutional Values in Contemporary Indian Politics through hybrid mode. The programme was held under the patronage of Dr. Adit Gupta, Director, and Principal MIER College. Students from ten colleges from within and outside of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the symposium. HoDs, Dy. HoDs and faculty of MIER College, St. Christopher College, Chennai and Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib attended the event. The participants comprehensively expressed their views about constitutional values such as sovereignty, fraternity, equality, secularism, democracy, liberty, justice etc. The judges for the competition were Dr. S.P Christopher Chandran, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, Madras Christian College, Chennai and Mrs. Navneet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Political Science, Shri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. The 1st prize was clinched by Ms. Grace. N. Shivani from Christopher College, Chennai, 2nd prize was bagged by Ms. Monali from Govt. College of Education, Jammu, and the 3 rd prize was secured by Ms. Falguni Pathak from K.C. College of Education. The consolation prize was given to Ms. Neha Sharma from MIER College of Education.

National Education Day

The College celebrated the ‘National Education Day 'as the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a great freedom fighter, eminent educationist and the first Union Minister of Education of India. The theme of the poster making competition was “Changing Course, Transforming Education”. More than 23 students from different departments of the college participated in the contest. The judges for the competition were Mrs. Sunaina Bakshi, PGT in Painting, Model Academy
School and Dr. Bharti Tandon, Associate Professor, PG Department, MIER College of Education.Ms. Shivali Singh and Ms. Khushi Sharma of B.Ed. bagged 1st and 2nd position respectively. Ms. Sheetal Thapa of M.Ed. clinched 3rd place whereas Ms.Vishali Rani of B.Ed. Special Education and Ms. Arti Thakur of B.Ed. were awarded consolation prize.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

MIER college of Education organized a rich and colourful programme to commemorate the Teachers’ Day. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College of Education. HoDs, Deputy HoDs, faculty members and students of UG and PG Departments of the college attended the programme. Dr. Renu Gupta Chairperson, gave her blessings on best wishes to the faculty and students. It was followed by a melodious group song by B.Ed. students. B.A. Psychology Honours and B.Ed. students recited captivating self-composed poems to honour their teachers. A colourful Ladakhi and Hamachi folk dance performance was also presented by the students of B.Ed. department. The programme ended with foot tapping dances on Bollywood numbers by B.Ed. and B.A. Psychology Honours students. Dr. Adit Gupta, in his address congratulated the faculty members on the Teachers’ Day and expressed hope that the teachers will keep on enlightening the young minds. . The programme was jointly conducted by Ms. Muskaan Adlakha, Ms. Shreya Baru and Ms. Sarita Bandral and the vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Pooja Bhatt, from B.Ed. department.

Nirbhey participated in International Cricket Tournament

Mr. Nirbahy Khajuria, a student of B.A. Psychology (Hon.) of MIER College of Education (Autonomous) has recently participated in 6th Indo-Nepal international championship and won a silver medal in the cricket tournament. This tournament is organised by the School Sports and Cultural Activities Federation-India, India Rural Olympic Association, Nepal Youth Sports Development council and Sidhartha Sports, Pokhra, Nepal. Indian Team settled for silver in the tournament. Mr. Nirbahy is a rising all-rounder of Jammu who performed very well in the matches played against Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Principal and Director of the college, Dr. Adit Gupta along with HoD, Dr. Mool Raj congratulated and felicitated the player for his achievement.

Trip to Wonderland Theme Park

Trip to Wonderland Theme Park

A two-day trip was organized by MIER College of Education (Autonomous) for the students of U.G. and P.G. department to Wonderland Theme Park in Jalandhar. Over 50 students went to the trip with full zeal and enthusiasm. The trip was a relaxation for students in this scorching summer. Jalandhar is known for tourist its attractions. Besides being a shopping destination, it has some cool amusement and water parks. Wonderland Theme Park has two sections namely amusement park and water park. It is located just 6 kms from Jalandhar city. The students enjoyed various water slides, roller coaster, horror house, aqua dance, bumper cars, hill queen train and other fun activities in addition to appreciating the architecture of the park. During their stay, the students also visited the MBD Neopolis Mall. The faculty and students came back, rejuvenated and shared their experiences and talked about the places they visited with the faculty and students of the college. It was an exhilarating trip full of fun, adventure, thrill and a memorable day for all students

An inter-college debate competition on the theme “Impact of Social Media on Education” was organized by the Co-Curricular Committee of MIER College of Education. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College, Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Jt. Director MIER, Dr. Moolraj Sharma, HoD PG Department, Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HoD UG Department along with the faculty members and students of both UG and PG departments attended the event. Dr. Aksa Rao, Associate Professor, and Head Dept. of English, Govt. Degree College, Akhnoor and Dr. Sonia Khajuria, Associate Professor, Department of English, GCW Parade Ground, Jammu were the honorable jury members.
Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HOD U.G. Department extended a very warm welcome to the jury members, participants, dignitaries, and the audience. Ten students from five colleges of Jammu city participated in the debate competition. All the participants expressed their views either in favour or against the theme in a very succinct and impressive manner. The debate helped the students to think critically and share their views on the given topic. On the basis of the results given by the jury members, Ms.Muskaan Adhlakha, MIER College of Education and Mr. Prince Khajuria, Kawa College of Education bagged the first prize, Ms. Preet Uppal, MIER College of Education won the second prize, and Ms. Kokila Sharma, Govt. College of Education secured third position. All the winners were awarded with trophies and certificate of merit. Certificates were also distributed to all the participants.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day Celebration

To mark the momentous occasion of 75th Independence Day, the 150 students and 20 faculty members of UG and PG departments of MIER College of Education participated enthusiastically under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by hoisting the flag in their home from 13th to 15th August 2022. Apart from this, they also ‘Pinned the Flag’ virtually and generated certificates, along with posting a ‘Selfie with Flag’ on site. Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building. The idea behind the initiative was to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College of Education appreciated the efforts of the committee and encouraged the students by saying that Nationalism must be regarded as the ongoing process and not only one day event as it keeps all citizens connected to their cultural roots and country.

“I-Survive” Adventure camp

“I-Survive” Adventure camp

Co-Curricular Committee of MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized an “I-Survive” Adventure camp at Patnitop, a picturesque hill station in Jammu and Kashmir UT. About 51 students. from B.Ed. and B.A Psychology ( Honours) along with two faculty members attended the camp. "I-Survive" is a unique initiative primarily targeted at the youth for attitude shaping and developing life skills. The idea is to take students out of their comfort zones and instil in them essential survival skills to succeed in today's competitive world in addition to developing personality, leadership qualities, team spirit, risk taking, collaboration and camaraderie through adventure activities.
The "I-Survive" camp provide participants a unique outdoor experience as well as gives a chance to see the scenic beauty of nature while understanding the biodiversity of the region.
Packaged in a fun format, the camp delivers important learnings through elaborate debriefing exercises by expert trainers, hence it is a novel academic initiative for today’s youth. The camp commenced with the students being briefed about the precautions to be taken during the camp and were then divided into three groups with instructors. Along with fun games the participants were exposed to adventure activities like Jumarian, flying fox and rope climbing, passing the Burma bridge, crawling under the net, double rope bridge, trekking etc. The instructors were very patient and helpful. A discussion and Interaction was organized by the Co-curricular Committee of MIER College on the theme was“ Models of Global Linkages eg. student and staff mobility, semester exchanges and dual degree programmes and their advantages and disadvantages” by Dr. Rekha Koul the Resource person of the event. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education
chaired the lecture. Dr Mool Raj Sharma HoD PG Department, Dr. Rohinka Sharma HoD UG Department along with the faculty members and the students of both PG and UG Department of
semester fourth attended the event. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education extended a warm welcome to the
resource person and the audience. .She has more than 50 research articles in the best journals in the world. She has guided many research scholars at MPhil and PhD levels and undertook state and nation level projects in addition to organizing workshops and conferences and has many accolades to his credit. Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Rekha Koul emphasized on the concept and importance of Global linkages in the field of education. She said that one of the key components of connectedness of higher education is student and staff mobility across regions or countries. She highlighted the reasons for why students decide to study abroad. She emphasized that living abroad and blending with local culture increases both cognitive flexibility and integrativeness of thought which are critical components of creativity. She added that she would like to see more students going from developed economies to developing economies, which will broaden the horizon of thinking in students of developed economies. Among the types of linkages she talked about
research linkages, articulated degrees of one country with other countries, mobility plan awareness like New Colombo Plan, scholarships for higher education, international degrees,
Joint HDRs etc. The students interacted with Dr. Rekha and settled their queries. Ms. Jyoti Sharma, a B.Ed Special Education semester forth conducted and programme. Mrs.Komal Sharma, Convener Co-Curricular Committee presented Formal Vote of Thanks .

Inter-Departmental Folk-Dance competition

To celebrate the festivities of Holi an Inter-Departmental Folk-Dance competition was organized by MIER College of Education. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College presided over the event. Mrs. Rupa Gupta Joint Director MIER, HOD PG Department, Dr. Mool Raj Sharma, HOD UG Department, Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Deputy HOD UG Department, Dr. Monika Bajaj along with the faculty and students of both PG and UG Departments of the college attended the event. The programme commenced by a formal welcome by Ms. Shreya Baru, student of B.Ed. followed by Saraswati Vandana which brought a spiritual vibe to the place. The folk-dance performances were organized in groups by the students of UG and PG Departments showcasing diverse cultural legacy of the country such as, Dogri, Punjabi, Ladakhi, etc. The students participated with great alacrity. Dr. Adit Gupta appreciated the efforts of the committee and motivated the students to actively participate in the future events too.

An Online Inter-department Poetry Recitation competition on the theme “PATRIOTISM” was organized by Co- Curricular Committee,MIER College of Education. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director
and Principal of MIER College presided over the event. Mrs. Rupa Gupta Joint Director MIER, HOD PG department Dr. Mool Raj Sharma, HOD UG department Dr.Rohnika Sharma, Deputy HOD’s of PG and UG department Dr. Nishta Rana and Dr. Monika bajaj along with the faculty and students of both PG and UG department of the college attended the event. Judges of the event were Dr. Nishta Rana, Associate professor, PG department, Dr.Reeta Dwivedi , Assistant Professor UG department and Mrs. Suman Devi , Assistant Professor UG department. Nearly 13 students of both UG and PG department actively participated in the Patriotic Poetry Recitation competition showing their versatility and skills. The programme began with formal welcome by Shivali Sharma of M.Ed. Students came up with different poems on the theme “Patriotism” and recited them with great fondness and zeal for the country. Beauty of expression, thoughts, feeling, rhyme, and music of words taking all these factors into consideration students expiated their talent and confidence with great vigor reciting poems such as- Safal Bhaarat ki Aur, Gantantra Bharat ka Nirmaan, Aaj Tiranga Faihraate Hain, Bharat ke Sainik, Hind ka Saar/ Gifts of India, Aazadi, Hai Naman Unko etc. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER college of Education appreciated the efforts of the Committee and encouraged the students with his motivational words. On the basis of result given by the jury Meenakshi Devi from M.Ed. 1 st Sem. got 1 st position, Neha Bagotra from M. Ed. 3rd sem. stood 2 nd ,Khushi Sharma from BEd 1 st sem and Naman B.A.Psychology Hons. came third. Students were judged on parameters such as relevance to the theme, voice and articulation, coherence of form & structure, harmony of words, presentation, clarity of imagery and language and presentation of poem with confidence, intonation and expression .Feeling of patriotism filled the air with affection and respect for our motherland ‘India’. Vote of thanks was presented by Miss. Sandeep of B. Ed 1 st sem and the program was ably conducted by Miss. Preet Uppal of B. A

To commemorate the Teachers’ Day, MIER College of Education, virtually organized an inspiring and enthralling programme on the occasion. The Chief Guest of the event was Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER and Principal MIER College, Dr. Mool Raj Sharma, HoD PG Department, Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HoD UG Department along with the faculty members and students attended the programme. Mrs. Komal Sharma, Convener Co-curricular Committee, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, faculty members and the students. In her welcome address, Mrs. Sharma highlighted the history of the celebration of Teacher’s Day in India and said it is celebrated on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who himself was an outstanding teacher and a visionary. Teachers are considered as agents of change and help in nation building. The event was beautifully and ably conducted by Ms. Jyoti Sharma, student of B.Ed. department, whereas formal vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Ruchika Sharma, Co-Convener, Co-curricular Committee, MIER College.

Collage Making Competition

An online Collage Making Competition on the theme: “Incredible India,” was organized by the Co-Curricular Committee of the MIER College of Education. Students of the UG and PG departments actively participated in the collage making competition, projecting their innovative ideas. The judges of the event were Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HOD, UG Department and Ms.Ruchi Sharma, QAO, MIER.
Mr. Ashit Toppo of B.Ed. semester IV bagged the first position,Ms. Hemangi Aggarwal of M.Ed. Semester IV secured the second position and Ms.Shivali Sharmaof B.Ed. Semester IV secured the third place in the competition. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College appreciated the efforts of the unit. On this occasion, an impressive programme on the theme “Anant Uday” was organised by the institute at its B.C. Road campus. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Farooq Khan (IPS), Hon’ble Advisor to the Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of the school and the college. The programme commenced with paying rich tribute to Lord Ganesh in the form of ‘Ganesh Stuti’. The students also presented a phenomenal fusion dance performance blending Kathak and Hip Hop.

An inter-departmental symposium was organized on the theme “Professional Ethics” on the National Education Day. About 14 students from the UG and PG departments participated in the symposium. Mr. Ashit Toppo from B.Ed. semester I, Ms. Anjeshri from B.Ed semester I and Ms. Naeema from M.A. Education semester I were adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners by the judges. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal in his address, said that professional ethics is a code of conduct applicable to different professions and is set up by the expert members of such profession or professional organizations. He further added that professional ethics for teachers include: mutual respect, dignity of teaching, accountability and develop collegiality. The programme was ably conducted by Ms. Shakshi Pathak, a student of M.Ed semester I.

MIER College of Education organized a fresher’s meet to welcome its new B.Ed. general, B.Ed. Special Education, M.Ed., M. A. and M. Phil. Education students. In his welcome address, Dr. Adit Gupta said that there is no substitute for hard work, and it is the only key to success and as incoming students, they need to put their 100% and derive the maximum benefit out of it. The event saw many dazzling performances by both seniors and juniors. A panel of jury members selected Ms. Sakshi Pathak from M.Ed. and Ms. Samina Iqbal from B.Ed. as “Miss Fresher” and Mr. Ashit Toppo from B.Ed. and Mr. Ravi Kumar from B.Ed, Special Education as “Mr. Fresher”. Seniors shared their experiences and juniors also expressed their feelings about their new college. Ms. Bupinder Kour of M.Ed. semester third ably conducted the programme. Ms. Uma of B.Ed. Gandhi Jayanti 2019

MIER College of Education commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing a play on the theme ‘Ädalat Mein Gandhi’. The play was directed by Mr. Rajneesh Gupta, depicting the scenes of some of the untouched aspects of Mahatma Gandhi’s life. Ms. Karuna Bajaj was the guest speaker on the occasion. She highlighted the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the country clean and green, Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman, MIER exhorted on Gandhian philosophy and said that Gandhi Ji's mission was spiritual, cleansing of not only India but of the world, he was cleansing humanity of prejudices, hatred and violence. The programme was ably conducted by Ms. Anjeshree and Palak Srivastva, students of B.Ed. programme.

Sports Meet

Sports Meet

MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized the Annual Sports Meet at its campus. The meet was inaugurated by Dr Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education. Students from all the departments of the college took part in events which included Tug of War and Chess. The HoDs of different departments of the college along with all the faculty and students witnessed the sports meet and cheered the participants. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Adit Gupta encouraged the students to participate whole heartedly in the events. He said that proficiency in co-curricular activities including sports is an integral part of becoming an effective teacher and would help in developing a wholesome personality of the pupil teachers. Dr. Gupta declared the meet open and asked the players to compete with sportsman’s spirit and show zeal and enthusiasm.
