Awareness Programme on Libraries of the World

The Library Committee of MIER College of Education organized an enlightening awareness program titled "Interesting Facts about World Libraries" on May 17, 2024. The event aimed to expand the knowledge of students and faculty about the fascinating aspects and historical importance of libraries globally. Prof. Nishta Rana, HoD School of Education, Dr. Monika Bajaj, HoD School of Social Sciences and Humanities, students and faculty members, graced the occasion. Mrs. Eesha Sharma, Librarian School of Education, warmly welcomed the audience, introducing the theme and its significance in promoting library awareness.
Mr. Suneel Kumar Bhat, Sr. Librarian of MIER College of Education, served as the resource person. He highlighted libraries role as repositories of human knowledge, emphasizing their pivotal role in preserving and disseminating information. Mr. Bhat also discussed the origins and development of libraries, from ancient to contemporary times, and highlighted unique libraries worldwide, including the Library of Alexandria, the Nalanda Library of India, the Taxila Library, and the Library of Congress, USA. Mr. Bhat
also shared knowledge about floating libraries, mobile libraries, human libraries, and digital libraries. Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal, commended the library committee efforts, emphasizing the importance of such programs in raising awareness about libraries significance in education and community engagement.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Chitvan Turki, a student of B.A. Honors English, Semester IV.
