Workshop on Theatre and Acting

The School of Social Science and Humanities (SSSH), MIER College conducted a workshop on theatre and acting by renowned theatre practitioners Mr. Rajneesh Gupta, Mr. Madan, Ms. Meena, and Mr. Tarun. The event garnered the participation of 120 students from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. The event was chaired by Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER.

The workshop began with a welcome address by Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College, who emphasized the importance of theatre and acting in personal and professional development. The participants were introduced to the fundamentals of theatre and acting, exploring voice modulation, body language, facial expressions, and stage presence.

The workshop was highly interactive, with participants engaging in various activities such as improvisation, character development, and scene analysis. Participants were divided into groups, presenting short plays in Dogri and Hindi, earning praise from faculty and peers alike.

Sharing insights from their extensive experience, the practitioners emphasized discipline, dedication, and perseverance in the pursuit of an artistic career. They encouraged the participants to nurture their creativity and passion for the arts.

Concluding the workshop, Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of School of Social Science and Humanities, conveyed gratitude to faculty and participants for their contributions. She stressed the importance of ongoing learning and advancement in performing arts. Ms. Naman Mansotra, a B.A. Honours Psychology student, adeptly facilitated the proceedings.
