World Environment Day

    MIER College of Education (Autonomous), Jammu, marked World Environment Day on June 4th and 5th, 2025, with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The Environment Unit, conducted series of events in collaboration with Government M.A.M College, in partnership with the Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing, Government of J&K and the Forest Office, Seed Development Division, J&K aligned with the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution Related Environmental Issues and Management Approaches.” Six students from the School of Education (SOE) and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH) participated in symposium on “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally” where Ms. Aditi Mahajan, B.A. Hons., Sem VI, secured the 3rd Prize, and in debate Competition on environmental challenges and sustainable solutions, two participants earned Appreciation Certificates. In painting competition on plastic pollution and environmental conservation, Ms. Shweta from B.Ed. Special Education won the 3rd Prize for her exceptional artwork. All participating students, including the winners, were honored with Certificates of Participation and Awards. Prof. Adit Gupta, Director, and Principal of MIER College of Education, congratulated the winners and commended the role of the unit in raising awareness about pressing environmental issues like plastic pollution. He emphasized that World Environment Day serves as a call to action, motivating students to become responsible educators and advocates for positive change. Special appreciation was extended to Ms. Suman Gupta, Incharge of the Environment Unit, for her proactive leadership and meticulous coordination, which were instrumental in the event’s success.
