Dr. Nandini Puri, Assistant Professor in Political Science at MIER College of Education, presented a research paper at the 28th World Congress of Political Science held in Seoul, South Korea, from July 12–16, 2025. The event was organised by the International Political Science Association and brought together over 3,000 scholars from across the globe under the central theme, “Resisting Autocratisation in Polarised Societies.”
Dr. Puri's paper, entitled “The Transgender Question in Manifestoes of National Parties in National Elections in India (2014–2024): A Cross-Longitudinal Study,” was well-received and drew appreciation from the session chair, Dr. Amarnath Mohanty, Head of the Department of Political Science, Banaras Hindu University. The paper critically examines how Indian national political parties have addressed transgender rights in their election manifestos across three electoral cycles (2014–2024). It underscores the need for inclusive, rights-based substantive representation and interrogates the disconnect between legal recognition and political inclusion of transgender individuals in India’s democratic processes.
The Management of MIER College of Education congratulated Dr. Nandini Puri on this remarkable academic achievement and for representing the institution on a global platform.
