The Extension Unit of MIER College of Education, under the aegis of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm at Batyari (Patyari) village in Bishnah. The celebration sought to foster national pride, unity, and patriotism among the villagers and students while reinforcing the spirit of community engagement.
The programme commenced at the Village Panchayat Bhavan, where villagers, students, and local authorities gathered in a vibrant atmosphere filled with patriotic fervor. The National Flag was unfurled by Dr. Rajiv Bhagat, Hon’ble MLA, Bishnah, along with Mr. Surjeet Singh, Sarpanch of the village, and Mrs. Suman Devi, In-charge of the Extension Unit and UBA Coordinator. The sight of the fluttering Tricolor inspired immense pride, symbolizing freedom, unity, and the sacrifices of countless patriots.
Following the flag hoisting, Dr. Rajiv Bhagat addressed the gathering, paying heartfelt tribute to freedom fighters and emphasizing the collective responsibility of citizens in building a strong and progressive nation.
On the same occasion, a Gram Sabha meeting was convened under UBA. The meeting, attended by the Sarpanch and residents, was led by Mrs. Suman Devi, Assistant Professor and UBA Coordinator, who facilitated meaningful deliberations on village development needs. Key issues such as school infrastructure, employment, healthcare, sanitation, and education were discussed, enabling participants to identify challenges and propose pathways for holistic development.
Mrs. Suman Devi also delivered a motivational address, encouraging both students and villagers to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and patriotism in their daily lives. She emphasized that practicing these values would not only contribute to national growth but also strengthen the development of the local community.
Extending his appreciation, Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director of MIER College of Education, commended the Sarpanch, villagers, and Mrs. Suman Devi for their efforts in organizing the Independence Day celebration and Gram Sabha meeting. He remarked, “Such initiatives not only instill national pride among students but also reinforce the bond between the institution and the community. By working together, we can contribute meaningfully to village development while honoring the sacrifices of our freedom fighters.”
