Campaign “Swachhata Hi Sewa”

DATE Sep 17, 2025

The Environment Unit of MIER College of Education actively observed the nationwide campaign “Swachhata Hi Sewa” (SHS) 2025, in line with the directives of the University Grants Commission, from 17th September to 1st October 2025. The campaign, organized under the theme “Swachhotsav”, aimed to promote cleanliness, sanitation, waste management, and environmental sustainability. The initiative is a strong commitment to environmental conservation, in alignment with the vision of Swachh Bharat and the Government of India’s call for a cleaner, greener, and healthier nation.
As part of the initiative, students from the School of Education (SOE) and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH) enthusiastically participated in a variety of activities. These included campus and neighborhood cleanliness drives, awareness sessions on proper waste segregation, and interactive discussions on adopting eco-friendly practices. Extending their efforts beyond the college premises, students also cleaned nearby streets and sensitized the local community about hygiene and sanitation. An orientation session was also conducted to highlight the importance of shared responsibility in creating a clean and healthy environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal, MIER College of Education, lauded the enthusiasm of the students and faculty, stressing that “cleanliness is not just an event but a way of life that reflects our responsibility towards society.” He emphasized that initiatives like Swachhata Hi Sewa nurture environmental consciousness among students and align perfectly with the college’s vision of integrating academic excellence with social responsibility.
Addressing the participants, Mrs. Suman Gupta, Incharge of the Environment Unit, highlighted that such initiatives nurture civic responsibility, sustainable living habits, and instill a sense of pride among students as they contribute to the national mission of cleanliness.
The observance concluded with all participants taking a pledge to actively engage in future cleanliness drives and to spread awareness about green and sustainable practices.
