International Day for Persons with Disabilities

    The International Day for Persons with Disabilities was commemorated on 3rd December 2025 at the Auditorium of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The event was organised by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), CRC Samba, Jammu, with this year’s theme, “Celebrating Ability, Preserving Culture,” emphasizing awareness, inclusion, and respect for the diverse abilities of persons with disabilities. The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Manoj Sinha, who served as the Chief Guest.
    Under the supervision of Dr. Nishta Rana, Head, School of Education, MIER College of Education (Autonomous), students of B.Ed. Special Education Semester I and Semester III actively participated in the celebrations. A group of fourteen students jointly presented a powerful and thought-provoking skit on the theme of inclusive education. The performance highlighted the importance of acceptance, empathy, peer support, classroom adaptations, and the pivotal role of educators in fostering inclusive learning environments.
    The initiative was coordinated by Dr. C. R. Jangra, Assistant Professor, Special Education, MIER College of Education.
    Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal, MIER College of Education, appreciated the participation of the students and commended their efforts in promoting the values of inclusion and respect for diversity. He emphasized that the college remains committed to advancing disability-inclusive education and training future educators who are compassionate, skilled, and responsive to the needs of all learners.
