Nukkad Natak under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan at Nougran Village

DATE Dec 10, 2025

The Extension Unit of MIER College of Education, under the banner of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), organized an awareness programme through a Nukkad Natak (street play) on the theme “Caste Discrimination” at its adopted village, Nougran, on 10th December 2025. The initiative aimed to sensitize the rural community to the deep-rooted issue of caste-based discrimination and to promote the values of equality, respect, and social justice.
A team of 13 dedicated student volunteers, led by Extension Unit In-charge and UBA Coordinator Mrs. Suman Devi, performed the street play at Girls High School, Nougran. The Nukkad Natak depicted various forms of caste-based biases and social exclusion that continue to persist in society. Through powerful dialogues and expressive performances, the students underscored the importance of upholding constitutional principles that guarantee dignity and equal opportunities for all.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Rajni Devi, a student of B.Ed. Semester I, who greeted the Sarpanch, Panch members, school staff, students, and villagers. The community members appreciated the college’s thoughtful efforts in addressing such a sensitive and socially relevant issue through an engaging and creative medium.
Mrs. Suman Devi, Convener Extension Unit, expressed her gratitude to the Sarpanch, Panch members, school staff, students, and villagers for their cooperation and positive response. She emphasized that awareness programmes like these play a crucial role in breaking stereotypes and fostering unity at the grassroots level.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College, commended the Extension Unit for organizing meaningful outreach activities and encouraged students to continue contributing towards social transformation. He stated that such initiatives not only educate communities but also help students develop empathy, responsibility, and civic awareness.
