The Alumni Committee of MIER College of Education organised an insightful guest lecture on “Foundations of Counselling Psychology: Counselling Process, Skills and Ethical Considerations” for students of BA Honours Psychology (Semesters III, V & VII) and MA Psychology (Semesters I & III). The lecture was held at the prestigious Sh. H. L. Gupta Auditorium and witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members.
The session, aligned with the prescribed curriculum, was conducted by Dr. Sarita Sood, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Jammu. An esteemed alumna of the B.Ed. cohort of 2001 at MIER College of Education, Dr. Sood shared her extensive academic and professional expertise, offering valuable insights into the fundamentals of counselling psychology.
The programme began with a formal welcome and introduction of the resource person by Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Sood’s lecture thoroughly covered the counselling process, vital counselling skills, and ethical considerations, giving students a clear conceptual understanding and practical insights into the subject.
An interactive question-and-answer session then followed, during which students actively engaged with the speaker, resulting in a stimulating exchange of ideas. Professor Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College of Education, expressed his sincere appreciation for Dr. Sood’s contribution and awarded her a certificate of appreciation.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Arpana Koul, Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, who acknowledged the valuable input of the speaker and the efforts of the organising committee. The event was smoothly run by Ms. Diksha Sharma, Assistant Professor at MIER College of Education.
