The School of Education, MIER College of Education (Autonomous), organised an educational visit titled “Yoga Setu: Living Awareness Tour” for the students of B.Ed. Semester III (Session 2024–2026) on 15 December 2025 at the AYUSH Department, Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu. The primary objective of the visit was to sensitise prospective teachers to the significance of yoga, Ayurveda, and traditional healthcare systems, and to highlight the relevance of holistic well-being in educational settings. The programme aimed to provide experiential learning and firsthand exposure to preventive and promotive health practices rooted in India’s indigenous knowledge traditions.
The visit was organised on-site by Dr. Vandana Dogra, Medical Superintendent of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital in Jammu, alongside Dr. Ramesh and Ms. Suchi, a Yoga Instructor. Initially, Mrs. Suman Devi briefed the students on the aims and timetable of the visit, providing context for their learning experience.
During the visit, students were introduced to various Ayurvedic treatments, medicinal herbs, naturopathy practices, and therapeutic procedures commonly used in clinical practice. The experts elaborated on the role of yoga in preventive and curative healthcare, emphasising its contribution to physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Special focus was placed on stress management, lifestyle-related disorders, and the integration of yoga and Ayurveda into contemporary health practices.
Students actively engaged with medical professionals, sought clarifications, and gained valuable insights into the practical use of traditional healthcare systems in contemporary contexts. The visit was both informative and enriching, broadening learning beyond classroom boundaries.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Aakriti Singh, who expressed gratitude to the officials and staff of the AYUSH Department for their cooperation. Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal of MIER College of Education (Autonomous), appreciated the initiative and thanked the doctors and staff of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu, for supporting this meaningful awareness programme. Overall, the visit made a notable contribution to the B.Ed. student's professional and personal development.
The visit was carried out under the overall supervision of Prof. Nishta Rana, Head of the School of Education, with Dr. Aakriti Singh and Mrs. Suman Devi acting as faculty coordinators, who accompanied and guided the students throughout the programme.
