The Research and Development Cell at MIER College of Education organised the Research Excellence Awards Ceremony for 2024-25 to recognise its faculty members for their exceptional scholarly contributions. Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies at the University of Jammu, attended as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER, was the Guest of Honour. The event was presided over by Prof. Adit Gupta, Director of MIER and Principal of MIER College of Education. The occasion was attended by Prof. Mool Raj Sharma, Controller of Examinations at MIER College; Prof. Nishta Rana, Head of the School of Education; Dr Monika Bajaj, Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities; the Deputy Heads of both schools; faculty members; and students.
Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Adit Gupta emphasised the importance of ongoing research engagement and urged faculty members to further strengthen the research culture of the institution. He introduced the Chief Guest, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, to the audience, describing her as a distinguished academic leader, an esteemed alumna of Model Academy, and the first woman Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). With a notable academic career spanning over three decades, Prof. Rohmetra has held several key leadership positions, including Rector of the Kathua and Billawar Campuses. Her contributions to academic administration, institutional development, and governance have played a vital role in advancing higher education through innovation and excellence.
Dr. Nishta Rana, Head of the Research and Development Cell, presented the research report for 2024–25, highlighting that faculty members published 94 research papers in national and international journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Additionally, faculty presented 86 papers at national and international conferences and seminars and participated in 131 webinars and workshops. She also outlined the Centre's future plans.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra fondly recalled her association with the institution and acknowledged its role in shaping her personal and professional journey. She highlighted the responsibility of educators to undertake research that contributes to educational improvement and policy development, emphasising innovation and problem-solving within the education system. She congratulated the award recipients for their commendable contributions.
The Research Awards were presented to 16 faculty members, amounting to Rs. 2,42,000, along with citations. A memento was given to the Chief Guest by Dr. Renu Gupta as a token of appreciation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Priya Choudhary, Assistant Professor, SSSH, and was smoothly conducted by Dr. Aakriti Singh, Assistant Professor, SoE.
