4th BATCH OF GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING COURSE STARTED AT MIER

The PG Department of MIER College of Education organized an induction cum orientation program for its fourth batch of the guidance and counseling certificate course. Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER and Principal MIER College, Dr. Mool Raj Sharma, HoD PG Department, Dr. Nishta Rana, Deputy HoD PG Department, Dr. Bindu Dua, Course Coordinator and Dr. Bharti Tandon, Associate Professor along with the new batch of students attended the program.
Dr. Mool Raj Sharma, HoD PG Department extended a warm welcome to the Chairperson, Principal, faculty members and the students. While covering the course content Dr. Mool Raj spoke about how the six months course prepares the students as future professionals in the field of mental health, school counseling, career counseling etc.
In his address, Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College, emphasized on the career options available after completing this course. He said that the course focuses on interactions, discussions, project work and presentations by students which covers both theoretical and practical aspects rather than on traditional exams. He also announced that the college will soon start a one-year advance diploma in guidance and counseling and other integrated courses.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson, gave a brief introduction of MIER and various programmes run by MIER College of Education. She blessed the newly admitted students and advised them to take part in different components of the course and work hard to complete the course. Dr. Gupta also said that their learning experiences in this course would be the first step in the field of guidance and counseling and would help them in their career choice too.
Later the students introduced themselves and shared their academic background and work experience. Dr. Bindu Dua, Course Coordinator, formally gave a brief introduction of the course. She also elaborated upon the objectives of the course, namely understanding the need and scope of guidance and counseling, different approaches, micro-skills in guidance and counseling, ethics and testing and non-testing techniques. She also discussed the syllabus and evaluation scheme of the course.
At the end, a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Nishta Rana, Deputy HoD PG Department MIER College.
